A photograph of the men of Mu Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. from the 1962 North Carolina A&T yearbook ‘The Ayantee’. Civil Rights activist Jesse Jackson can be found sixth from the left in the top row. Jackson was not initiated through Mu Psi but rather through the Pi Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Upon graduating High School in 1959, he rejected a contract from a professional baseball team so that he could attend the racially integrated University of Illinois on a football scholarship. He decided to transfer to A&T the following year.
